Know me and my practice a little better!
Deepti Gaur belongs to the capital city, New Delhi. She had completed her bachelor's from the College of Arts, Delhi in 2019 and currently pursuing her master's from Sarojni Naidu School of Arts and communication, Hyderabad. She has been interested in exploring different mediums through her practice. The intervention of the sound aspect is always evident in her pictorial interpretations. With her area of interest in sound and spaces, she started building gestural paintings through layers of acoustic patterns and soundscapes with rhythmic free-flowing brush strokes. Digital media are helping her imaginations to evolve in wholly different ways which further help her to understand the sensibility of different mediums.

My practice is rooted in the exploration of intangibility within the physical space which transforms regularly with time and space. The visuals I create are combinations of surreal observations inside this legitimate world we live in. Being a part of a densely occupied city for years, took my attention towards radically changing sounds and spaces.
I capture these unseen vibrations in the form of “Sound Mapping” and these engagements began while traveling in local buses and metro. What excites me about sound is how it is increasing day by day, why we can hear it but can’t see it? How would it look if sound traveled with its physical form around the living being? Its mutable nature concerning time and space, non-specificity, and ambiguity open gates for me to include it in my practice as a living element. Sonic surfaces, free-streaming structures, and colors have the ability to trigger various feelings and moods with which I am attempting to fabricate a feeling of liveness. A sense of movement around the space through different forms which can make one hear a visual is what I intend to create.
In my new practice, intricacy, twisting space, and sound are consistently harmonizing. Transformation of plane surfaces by giving them perspective, and layering constructs intricacy and complexities in the forms that portray different sounds within one space. Superimposing layers and patterns sometimes gives a new outcome that looks like the chaos of geometrical forms which are an abstract form of these rapidly growing concrete jungle. These complexities and chaos add a variety of sensitivities to the visual forms of sound.
Development of these understandings are coming out on paper. Delicacy and lightness of paper provide me the liberty of adding as many layers as I want, which further leads me to grow the complexity level. Freehand brush strokes with volume and transparency help me to create different acoustic patterns and textures. Outcome transforms every time with the change of medium and support. The dynamism of advanced media assists me with fostering a superior comprehension between human sensibility and technical sensibility. It helps me in managing as many patterns, colors, and layers as I want, to cultivate the complexity level. At times the juxtaposition of multiple forms and colors triggers various senses which create a timeless feeling. Multifaceted treatment of material, patterns, surface, and imagery combine to express and define my imaginations.
